Video games, to some, may be encountering a wall. The evolution in technology seems to have dropped to a crawl and rarely does a game come along, any more, that amazes you with its graphics or new technological advances. This has to do with several effects, and because of it, the makeup of video games, basically, is forever effected. However, there is still plenty of strength to be unveiled from video games and plenty of greatness to be had.
Video game costs. Because piracy is becoming more and more prominent and gamers are increasingly able to purchase and download games for free, gaming companies are making no money and as such, have less income to invest in research and development and other technologies.
Technology potential. Believe it or not, there may be some nearby roof that is reachable given a normal level of capital, and video games as we see it may be forthcoming. While improvements will continue to happen, the rapid ascent may no longer be a reality in games.
Variety is growing. Due to open source and the advent of good things of this variety, there are many games available than ever before. While there may be fewer games you can spend a whole day enjoying, there are even more to use thirty minutes to an hour playing every couple days.
Monetization strategies. As conglomerates have more difficult monetizing their entertainment, there will be additional time spent finding ways to make money off in game spending and product framing. Also, freemium has evolved, as addons such as new maps, uniforms and cheat codes are buyable for $2$3 a clip to bring in additional money.
Video games are forever changed, just like the world wide web. Do not fret, though, there are plenty of great times ahead to be had, but how they happen will be different. Hold on tight.. there is plenty of fun ahead!
